First Choice Mandarins
Sicilian Mandarins, exclusively first choice.
Mandarin is the only sweet fruit in the citrus family. Its segments are small and juicy, with light orange pulp.
The peel is thin and easy to remove, light orange in color and very fragrant. A mandarin tree, belonging to the Rutacae family, can give us up to 600 fruits a year and reach a height of between two and four meters.
Uses of Mandarins
As for its food uses, the mandarin is mostly consumed fresh, after being peeled and divided into segments. It is excellent eaten alone or with other fruits, in the preparation of a fruit salad. The mandarin can be squeezed to obtain an excellent fresh fruit juice rich in vitamins, to be added to other ingredients for the preparation of a smoothie, or simply consumed alone.Mandarin segments can also be an addition to dishes such as salads or exotic-inspired vegetable side dishes. They are an excellent garnish in the preparation of cakes, pies or pastries. Mandarin juice can also be used to prepare ice lollies, natural jellies or granitas.
In the cosmetic field, an essential oil is extracted from the mandarin peel and used to prepare products suitable for massages.
Mandarin peels can be dried and used for decorative purposes, or to make fragrant DIY potpourris, accompanied by dried flowers and the dried peels of other citrus fruits.
